By decree of the President of Ukraine, the institute was granted National status and named after Mykola Amosov, the legendary surgeon who was its first director.

The Institute is not only operating rooms. It is the leading educational institution in the field: a specialized Scientific Council, the Department of Heart and Major Vessel Surgery at NMAPO named after Shupik, and ongoing internship courses for Ukrainian and foreign doctors.
The institute’s surgeons are training at clinics in the USA, Germany, France, and Poland, and since 1991, under the institute’s aegis, it has been operating. Association of Cardiovascular Surgeons of Ukraine.
The founding doctors of our foundation are alumni and staff of this very school.
