This wonderful, smiling boy with an insightful gaze urgently needs surgery to implant an intracardiac device (occluder), because he has a congenital heart defect – an open arterial duct. His mother, Nazarik, knew about the defect since the boy’s birth, but doctors gave hope that the defect would close on its own.

Every six months she took Nazarchyk for examinations, hoping for a miracle. But Nazarchyk began getting colds very often, and it frightened his mother. Then she took him to the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. After examining the child, the doctors confirmed the diagnosis and said that surgical intervention was now unavoidable, recommending the operation as soon as possible because the boy’s left heart chambers were enlarged. Nazarchyk’s mother begs all caring people to help her raise funds to purchase an intracardiac implant that will make the little one’s heart completely healthy. A single mother cannot gather such funds on her own, not even in a lifetime! Letter from the mother:

I am the mother of Zabolotnyy Nazarchyk, who was born on July 13 2014 in the village of Rohizna, Vinnytsia region. I live with my children in a village near my mother. I am currently on leave due to the need to care for my child. I am a single mother. My first child was born while I was married, but my husband and I have since separated.

My son Nazarchyk is 2.7 years old. Immediately after birth a heart murmur was detected, and we were referred to the Vinnytsia Regional Children’s Hospital for a cardiology consultation. During the examination we were diagnosed with a congenital heart defect – a patent arterial duct. For 1.5 years we saw a cardiologist; the doctors gave us hope that the arterial duct might close on its own without surgical intervention. But, unfortunately, the miracle did not happen. Then we were advised to go to the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery for a consultation, but there they confirmed our diagnosis and said that a heart operation was needed, which is performed without surgical intervention. Because I categorically do not want to cut my child.

But after learning how much the implant costs, I finally lost hope that I could help my beloved little son, because I will never be able to raise such funds on my own. My income is modest: 2.5 thousand, and we also receive help from my grandmother, a pensioner. The operation must be done urgently; delaying treatment is not an option, as it could lead to unpredictable changes in the pulmonary vessels and increased strain on the heart, especially the left ventricle, which has already enlarged.

Nazarchyk has started getting very sick with colds; the little boy becomes weak and tires very quickly. I appeal to all caring people: please help my son become healthy.
