Saved the heart of Uliana Hlybiniy

Ulyana is 9 years old and she is from the Kherson region. She is a kind, sensitive, and very bright girl who loves to draw, be close to her parents, and dreams of a normal childhood—without hospitals, constant examinations, and worries about health.

The parents learned about the congenital heart defect when Ulyana was only two years old. For the family, this news was a huge shock. Since then, life has changed: every cold, every viral illness, every decline in well‑being has caused anxiety and required doctors’ monitoring.

Ulyana was under the care of cardiologists, regularly undergoing heart ultrasound and ECG. The specialists’ recommendations varied over time: to observe, to wait, to monitor her condition. But eventually it became clear that treatment could no longer be postponed.

In May of this year, during a consultation at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, doctors decided that the heart defect should be closed with an occluder. This special implant allows the defect to be closed minimally invasively, helps avoid dangerous complications in the future, and gives the child the chance to live a more active and peaceful life.

An additional trial for the family was the war. In 2022, Uliana’s family was forced to leave their hometown of Kakhovka in Kherson region due to the occupation and relocate to the Kirovohrad region. In the new place, the parents essentially had to start life over again. Uliana’s mother works as a psychologist in a hospital. The family’s main income is the father’s salary, a significant portion of which goes to housing rent and basic family needs. The family could not afford to purchase an expensive occluder on its own.

May 26, 2026 – Hlybiniy Ulyani successfully underwent surgery to correct a congenital heart defect. The necessary occluder, costing 56 700 UAH, was purchased thanks to the support of donors of the “100 Pasok Dobro” campaign.

Every year, on the eve of Easter, following her great‑grandmother Yevheniya Drobovych’s family recipe, she bakes 100 homemade Easter breads by hand. All the breads are sold as part of a charitable initiative, and 100 % of the proceeds from sales and additional donations are fully transferred to help children. In the eight years since the “100 Breads of Kindness” initiative began, almost 2,000,000 UAH have been raised for charity. The funds have been given to support the Tabletochky fund, the charitable projects at dobro.ua, and other initiatives aimed at helping children and their families.
