Saved heart for Dmytro Melnyk

Dmytryk Melnyk from the Vinnytsia region is a very special and long‑awaited boy. His mother waited for him for 13 years. Dmytryk was born in 2023 and from birth doctors discovered a congenital heart defect – an open arterial duct. The parents hoped it would close on its own over time, but that did not happen. Eventually the doctors concluded that Dmytryk needs surgical intervention – closure of the duct using a special implant.

Parents work every day to do everything possible so their son can develop, grow stronger, start speaking, and have more opportunities for a full life. That’s why help with heart treatment was especially important for this family.

At the Amosov Institute, Dmytryk successfully underwent an operation to correct a congenital heart defect. The necessary occluder, costing 49 500 UAH, was purchased thanks to the support of donors of the Very Book Club campaign.

We sincerely thank all the donors of Very Book Club for this help, for their concern, and for giving Dmytryk the opportunity to receive the necessary treatment in time. Ahead, Dmytryk still has a lot of work, activities, and small daily victories. But now one important challenge has become less.
