Saved heart of Lutsak Oleksii

Saved the heart of 5‑year‑old Oleksii, who has a congenital heart defect – atresia of the pulmonary artery. This defect prevented the boy’s heart from beating normally and caused complications throughout his body. Without your help, Oleksii’s heart and life were in danger. He urgently needed surgery to implant a cardiac device.

From birth until age 4 the boy developed and grew without any problems. In early December 2021 Oleksiy's mother noticed his unnatural skin color on the fingertips and a cough with wheezing during active movement. The parents immediately turned to the family doctor, who promptly referred the family for additional examination at the Zakarpattia Regional Children's Hospital. After a series of examinations, Oleksiy was referred to the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. There, qualified doctors delivered frightening news. Oleksiy's diagnosis is atresia of the pulmonary artery; surgery cannot be avoided and must be performed right now. The heart defect is very dangerous, and even thinking about the terrible consequences is frightening.
