Kira Soroka's rescued heart

From the moment of her birth, little Kira's life has been tied to the fight for a healthy heart. Doctors detected a heart defect in the girl while she was still in the maternity hospital. Her parents hoped for a miracle—that the opening in her heart would close on its own—but by the age of three months, a repeat examination confirmed a defect in the atrial septum.

Since then—countless consultations, regular check‑ups, and constant hope. But the latest ultrasound results showed that without surgery further treatment is impossible. The only chance was the implantation of a modern occluder. For a mother who raises her daughter on her own, the sum of over 140 thousand UAH was unaffordable.

Despite all the difficulties, Kira remained cheerful, dreaming of a childhood without limits, of playing with friends and a peaceful life. This September, her dream came true. Doctors of the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery successfully performed an endovascular operation on little Kira from the Chernivtsi region. Her heart works evenly, and now ahead lies a happy and healthy future.

And all of this became possible thanks to kind people! In July, the co‑owner of the Ukrainian cosmetics brand NATUREAL and brand strategist for several well‑known beauty companies celebrated her birthday in a special way. Instead of traditional gifts, she asked friends and colleagues to join a fundraiser to purchase three occluders for children’s hearts.

The initiative was supported by like‑minded people and was aimed at purchasing an implant for Kira. Thus a personal celebration turned into a good deed that will save children's lives.

This year, material wishes have lost their meaning for me. I’m happy that together with you we were able to make this important gift.
