Urgent help is needed for a little girl, Mariia, from Ternopil. She has a congenital heart defect – severe aortic insufficiency with dilation of the left heart chambers, second-degree, which developed after an episode of infectious endocarditis. This means that at any moment the child could die, suffocate. The girl and her mother are already at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, and she urgently needs surgery. The state does not provide patients with cardiac implants, and the funds must be found independently. The family has no one to borrow such funds from, and there is no time at all. The operation must be performed right now. Only we, together with you, can help! Save Mariia’s life.

Maria – a very wanted and long‑awaited child, she was born healthy and was always active, cheerful, and sporty. At a routine vaccination in December 2020, the doctor noticed a heart murmur and recommended a cardiac echocardiography. The parents’ conclusion was very frightening: the girl was found to have coarctation of the aorta and severe aortic valve insufficiency. The family was immediately referred to the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. Already at Amosov, after a full examination, Maria was given a new diagnosis that simply shocked the family: pronounced aortic insufficiency with dilation of the left heart chambers, second degree. The family was not released from Amosov. Maria must remain under doctors’ supervision constantly.

To save Mariia’s life, an expensive operation is needed, which involves replacing the aortic valve with a pulmonary one and implanting a conduit in place of the pulmonary valve. Without this surgery, Mariia will not be able to live.
