Little Vikusya Tolmachova needs our help. The girl, who has just turned 2 years old, has a congenital heart defect – an interatrial septal defect. Vikusya needs to undergo a corrective operation using a modern endovascular procedure, which is performed at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery free of charge. However, to carry out the surgery a cardiac implant must be purchased. It is extremely expensive and Vikusya’s parents simply do not have the funds for it. That is why we are appealing to everyone for help to save the little Vikusya’s heart!

Vikusia was born prematurely on January 11, 2018. The problems began already at the maternity hospital, when doctors noticed an eye problem. This problem was almost corrected, but misfortune did not spare their home. During examination, doctors found two heart defects in the little one: an interventricular septal defect and a moderate pulmonary artery stenosis. The first needs to be corrected urgently, while the second can be lived with and monitored continuously.

The Vikusi family is a large one. They have an 11‑year‑old daughter who has a disability and requires constant care and rehabilitation. They also have an 8‑year‑old son, a friendly schoolboy who helps his mother with everything around the house. The father is defending Ukraine in the ATO, while the mother looks after their three children. They live in the Donetsk region, in the city of Bakhmut, where they moved into a rented apartment. Life for this family is extremely difficult, as the father earns very little and their income is not enough for a decent life, not to mention the ongoing treatment needed for the older daughter and the urgent need to save the heart of the youngest.

The family simply cannot afford to raise funds for purchasing an occluder. That’s why they have turned to all caring people for help. It is urgently needed to quickly raise money and bring the child to surgery in Kyiv, where the best doctors will perform a professional operation and save her life.

The fundraising campaign was joined by the restaurant Panna Pasticceria, which created the charitable initiative “Save the Little Heart”, aimed at raising funds for the project to help Vikusi.

This activity gives everyone who feels the need and has the means to help the chance to do good.

70% of the sales of the charitable dessert, created by 9‑year‑old Andriy Zhurzhii – Dolce Bacio, will be directed to this charitable project.
