Sofiika Moroz

Sofiyka is a very sweet and sincere little girl. She is only 2.8 years old, but she already needs an urgent operation to install an intracardiac implant (occluder), as she has a congenital heart defect – a secundum atrial septal defect.

When, in spring 2015, the little girl fell ill with an upper respiratory infection twice in a row and, against a backdrop of high fever, Sofiika’s hands and feet began to turn blue, her mother immediately sensed that something was wrong. An ultrasound diagnosed pericarditis. But the mother felt that this was not what concerned the cardiologists, and two weeks later a repeat ultrasound revealed a congenital heart defect. This defect had triggered severe respiratory infections and possibly pericarditis. The right chambers of the girl’s heart are working under overload, and if an intervention is not performed in time, the defect will only worsen, negatively affecting her overall health and potentially leading to heart failure in the future. Sofiika needs an intracardiac implant (occluder) that will make her heart completely healthy. Thanks to friends and relatives, the family has already raised 50 000 UAH, but unfortunately they cannot raise the rest on their own.

Mother is on maternity leave caring for her child. The family also has an older daughter, now 16, who has had a complex diagnosis since childhood—hydrocephalus. Until she was ten, mother practically lived with her in hospitals, and even now a great deal of money goes toward the girl's treatment. The father from his first marriage has a son who is under 18, and he pays monthly child support. Sonechka’s father is retired, and his pension is 3000 UAH per month. To purchase an intracardiac implant for the younger daughter, they would need years—time that, unfortunately, this wonderful girl does not have.

Sonechka is a very emotional and cheerful, artistic child. She loves to parody pop artists, and perhaps in the future Sonechka will become a famous performer. The family appeals to all caring people to help save their daughter's little heart!!!
