Sofiia Marunych

Recently, the philanthropist and volunteer of our foundation, Yuriy Husyev, celebrated his birthday with a special purpose. He invited all his friends and acquaintances, as part of the “Change the World. Give Yours.” project, to the Ukrainian Charity Exchange to save the little heart of Sofia Marunich from Cherkasy.

Four years ago Sofia received a terrible diagnosis – an open Botallo’s duct, a very serious congenital heart defect that required heart surgery to correct. Sofia’s dad is a veteran of the ATO, her mother stays at home caring for the child, and the elderly grandmother is ill. They had to raise funds on their own to save the girl’s life, but the family simply couldn’t afford it. And time was running out.

Thanks to the compassion and sincere heart of Yurii and his friends, the heart was successfully operated on at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery.

Her rescuer Yuriy came personally to congratulate the girl on her recovery.

Birthdays can be not only useful, but also lifesaving.
