At first glance you wouldn't say that this smiling little one with big blue eyes needs our help. Vikusi is only 1.2 months old, and she urgently needs surgery because the baby has a congenital heart defect – an open arterial duct. Later this defect could lead to heart failure. Doctors recommend closing it with an intracardiac implant and forgetting the child's disease forever! The operation at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery will be performed free of charge, but the implant used to close the defect costs 78 110 UAH.

Unfortunately, the parents have to purchase it at their own expense. But for a young family where the girl's mother is on maternity leave and the father is a serviceman who recently returned from the ATO, has only been employed for a month and is on a probationary period, this is impossible. The cost of the implant, which also needs to be found on short notice, is simply beyond the means of the Popuk family.
