Petrušynskyi Kyrylo

Kiryl is now 2.5 years old and has a congenital heart defect—a patent ductus arteriosus. He urgently needs surgical treatment. The operation is performed using an endovascular approach with an occluder, which, unfortunately, is not funded by the state. His parents must purchase it.

Kyrylo was born prematurely at 30 weeks, weighing only 1,710 g. He spent 11 days in intensive care. Already there, during the first examination, his parents were told that the boy had a congenital heart defect. The doctors, however, gave them hope, saying the ductus might close on its own. The parents decided to wait, attending regular follow‑up examinations. During the latest ultrasound, the doctors advised them to proceed with surgery. With this defect, Kyrylo began to suffer frequent pneumonias, bronchitis, and colds, as the baby’s body was weakened.

After birth, the boy was also found to have a brain cyst, hydrocephalus syndrome, which was treated for a long time by a neurosurgeon. When Kyryl was 8 months old, his hemoglobin dropped sharply and he was admitted to the hospital with the diagnosis “severe deficiency anemia grade III”, and the boy was given donor blood, as this was the only option.

When Kyrylo was 9 months old, his mother went back to work. But for Kyrylo’s family that amount is unaffordable. The baby’s father suffers from hydronephrosis, kidney transformation, and a severe complication after an early surgical intervention. He now needs another operation. Kyrylo’s older brother, who is 3.6 years old, needs to have an umbilical hernia removed. The boy’s mother has spinal disease, osteochondrosis, protuberances, and spondyloarthrosis. All of this requires costly examinations, treatment, and rehabilitation. It is all very expensive. One misfortune after another has befallen their family…

Kyrylo’s family asks all caring people to help them in this difficult situation. Kyrylo really wants to go to kindergarten as a healthy boy, to run and play together with other kids!
