1.07.13 at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine. Pavliuk Ivanna Ivanivna, born 21.06.2010, was admitted with a diagnosis of congenital heart defect – patent arterial duct.

After the examination, the child was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect – a patent arterial duct. At the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, considering the relatively small size of the shunt, endovascular treatment of the defect was chosen. Thanks to state procurement, the institute provides free closure of small arterial ducts with spiral occluders for patients.

Unfortunately, during an additional examination in the X‑ray operating suite the shunt turned out to be significantly large, making implantation of the coil impossible. The parents did not have the money to purchase an occluder (25 000 UAH). The Future Hearts charity foundation decided to urgently help this child. After implantation on 02.07.13, Ivanka was discharged home the next day. We are confident that now everything will be fine for her.
