Angelinka is 7 months old and she urgently needs help. Recently, doctors discovered that the little girl has a congenital heart defect—a patent arterial duct. However, it is far too large for such a tiny baby. Angelinka is not gaining weight, and she chokes when she sleeps… She needs an immediate intracardiac implant to close the defect. But the young family does not have the funds to purchase an occluder.

The girl's mother is 21 years old, she is on maternity leave and lives in a village with her parents; the father is 23, he is a student. The young family agreed to a free open-heart surgery so that nothing threatens the life of their little sunshine. However, during the examination under the left arm, doctors found a geongeoma (vessels tangled into a knot) and decided that an open surgery would be very dangerous because of the risk of bleeding. On their own, the family was able to raise only 8 000 UAH. Students from IMV also helped, contributing 7 600 UAH. But this is still not enough; another 59 300 UAH needs to be collected. Therefore Angelinka’s family is reaching out for help from all caring people: help them save Angelinka’s life, their little sunshine!

Letter from a mother:

We are from Korts in the Rivne region, so we were sent for examination to Rivne. After a cardiologist consultation we had an ultrasound and discovered that the artery is open at 4.3 mm, so it needs to be closed urgently. Now my daughter and I are at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. Initially we were supposed to have a free open‑heart surgery, but after another examination the doctors said that this method is too risky for us. Now we need to place an expensive occluder (74 900 UAH). Our family cannot afford such an operation. I live with my parents, my husband is still studying. We have no housing, and our monthly income is just a child‑care social benefit (860 UAH); my husband does not receive a scholarship. Thanks to kind people we have managed to raise 15 600 UAH. The rest we have nowhere to get. Therefore I ask all caring people to help us. We will be grateful. May God protect you!
