Look at this smiling boy! Seeing him makes you want to smile and live! But unfortunately, he needs our urgent help. This is Vanya, he is 8 years old, and since birth Vanychka has grown up as a healthy child. He underwent all the necessary examinations without problems. The only issue is that he often fell ill with colds. This worried Vanya’s mother. She decided to have an ultrasound of Vanya’s heart, during which a congenital heart defect – an interatrial septal defect – was discovered. Now Vanya needs an urgent operation to close the defect.

A mother is raising her son on her own; she and his father Vani have been separated for a long time, and unfortunately he takes no part in his upbringing, not even paying alimony. The mother has managed to collect only 40 000 UAH on her own, and the remaining 49 880 UAH cannot be gathered without the help of caring people. So let’s join together to save the heart of this wonderful boy!

Letter from a mother:

On January 20, 2008 I gave birth to a healthy boy, Ivan, and until he was eight years old I was confident that I was raising a healthy and happy child. Considering that a Municipal Children’s Cardio‑Rheumatology Center had opened in our district, I decided to have Ivan undergo an electrocardiogram, the results of which led to a recommendation for a cardiac echocardiography that revealed a congenital heart defect. During a consultation with a cardiac surgeon I learned about the treatment options for an atrial septal defect—surgical and endovascular (using an occluder). The doctor explained the advantages of the endovascular approach, since it does not require prolonged rehabilitation or stopping the heart during the operation. However, this method of treatment demands substantial funds. Therefore, whenever possible I began setting aside money for the treatment. But on April 13, 2017, a tragedy struck my family…

My mother suffered a recurrent acute cerebrovascular accident. Therefore, most of the funds I was able to raise and borrow were spent on her treatment and rehabilitation. My son Ivan leads a fairly active lifestyle, studies well, learns foreign languages, loves sports, and is actively involved in dancing. After receiving his diagnosis, Ivan can no longer fully pursue his beloved dancing, and I realized that I must and want to give my child a chance at a healthy life without limitations.

I am raising my son on my own, and because of my mother's illness I am unable to gather the necessary funds by myself. I have collected almost 40,000 UAH. Therefore I am reaching out to all caring people in the hope of receiving help to raise the required amount for my son's operation. I greatly hope for your assistance, and I believe there are many good and caring people in this world.
