Our help is needed for a little girl named Milana. The baby has a congenital heart defect, and now a battle for her life and future is underway. Milana urgently needs an endovascular operation using a heart implant (the “Cera” vessel occlusion system), which can correct the heart defect and give the child a chance to live.

The operation is performed free of charge at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, but to carry it out the implant itself must be purchased, and it costs a huge amount. The girl's parents cannot afford to save their daughter. That is why we are reaching out to all caring people to help save Milana’s little heart!

Since birth, Milan's parents have been fighting for her life. She is only one and a half years old, but even in the maternity hospital her parents learned of a diagnosis: a congenital heart defect (open arterial duct). Time is divided into before and after. The diagnosis may not sound that frightening, but its consequences can be fatal. A sudden pressure difference in the heart’s chambers can cause irreversible damage. The little girl's heart needs to be saved urgently.

From the first days of life, doctors detected heart murmurs and diagnosed an open arterial duct. Usually in children this opening can close naturally within the first year, but in Milana it not only fails to close—it actually enlarges. Over five months the opening grew from 2 mm to 3.5 mm. In addition, Milana is constantly troubled by atopic dermatitis. She keeps trying to pick at the rash on her skin, which burns and itches, so Milana often cries, although her parents together with the doctors are doing everything they can to ease the course of the disease. Milana must not cry or scream, because that is directly linked to her heart defect—the child begins to turn blue even with slight exertion.

The family still hoped the duct would close on its own, but when the parents learned that the opening was getting larger and that Milana needed surgery, her father immediately decided to go abroad to earn part of the required funds, because the family lives in the small village of Stepanivka in the Sumy region, where finding work is very difficult. However, the quarantine changed everything—her father couldn’t go anywhere, and now time is running against the little one. The family simply has no way to raise the money, which is why they are turning to you, donors, for help.
