Five‑year‑old Denys dreams of playing sports; he really wants to go to football and karate. Unfortunately, doctors have forbidden him from attending sports clubs because the boy has a congenital heart defect—a perimembranous ventricular septal defect. Denysko often catches colds, so he rarely attends kindergarten. He urgently needs surgery to implant an intracardiac device so his little heart can be healthy.

The operation at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery is performed free of charge, but the implants must be purchased at the family’s own expense. For the young Lyenkykh family, the amount of 98 975 UAH is too large. Although the family knew about their son’s defect from birth and prepared for the operation, unfortunately, over five years they managed to collect only 30 000 UAH; on UBB we are gathering the remaining sum. Doctors recommend performing the operation as soon as possible, so the Lyenkykh family is appealing for help to all caring people.

As part of the charitable campaign by the Panna Pasticceria restaurant, “Little Hearts Panna Pasticceria,” funds are also being raised for a project to help Denys.
