Lev was born with a defect in the atrial septum, and now there is an opening in his heart that prevents the child from living normally. This heart defect must be corrected urgently, and it can be done using an implant (occluder) that will be placed directly in the heart. The operation at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery will be performed free of charge, but the implant itself must be purchased, and the parents simply do not have the funds. Lev has been born with a heart defect that each year increasingly affects the boy’s health. He is constantly ill, very weak, and feels poorly. This defect must be corrected urgently, because it will not disappear on its own, even though there were hopes for that. The implantation surgery will be performed only after Lev’s parents can purchase the implant. But for an ordinary Ukrainian family from Khmelnytskyi, the sum of almost 100 000 UAH is unaffordable. Lev’s mother underwent heart surgery in 1995 and now has a disability. Both parents work, but their minimum salaries are enough only for living. They also help elderly parents. For them the amount needed to save their child’s life is unattainable. Therefore the parents appeal to all caring people for help.
