Lebedenko Ihor

At 17, Ihor – who was born with a congenital heart defect, a coarctation of the aorta – still faces serious health challenges. His mother was very ill and couldn’t arrange the surgery in time. When Ihor turned 11, his mother died of a stroke. After the funeral, he felt extremely unwell, and his sister took him to Kyiv for an examination at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. There, at age 12, Ihor received his first stent, and six months later his mitral valve was replaced. He has been undergoing check‑ups every year, and during the most recent one, doctors, noting his high blood pressure, strongly recommend that a second stent be placed urgently.

With his help, the narrowing in the aorta will expand, leading to normalization of pressure and the heart’s physiological function. If an intracardiac implant is not placed in time, the excessively high pressure in the brain’s vessels could cause a stroke at any moment. Ihor has no one to help him. So let’s join together to heal the heart of this young Ihor, because it is within our power!

Letter from the sister caregiver:

Good day, kind hearts! I am Ihor’s sister, his caretaker. I am reaching out to people who are not indifferent to others’ sorrow, to help raise funds for my brother’s operation, as he needs a stent. Our mother suffered a stroke, and she died in the hospital a few days later, never regaining consciousness.

I took my brother in with me and immediately brought him for an examination at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, where at age 12 he underwent surgery and had his first stent placed, and later his mitral valve was replaced. I have taken him to doctors’ consultations every year. At the most recent examination, I was advised to definitely place a second stent because his health has worsened. My brother is now 16 years old.

I already have my own family—a 13‑year‑old daughter and a husband—but both of our salaries are low. I earn 1 300 UAH (working as a nanny in a kindergarten), and my husband earns 1 350 UAH (he works as a guard at the same kindergarten). After my mother’s death, my father started drinking and died two years later. We have no one else to turn to for help, so we ask you to raise funds for the treatment and rescue of my brother Ihor.
