We raised funds to buy an occluder and save Veronika Shmarovoz’s little heart, but during the routine pre‑operative examination and contrast study of the girl’s left ventricle, an aneurysm of the interventricular septum with multiple ruptures was discovered. Placing an implant in that case would have been very dangerous. Now the already‑purchased occluder will help 8‑year‑old Laryna Myshko, who also needs heart surgery.

On the fourth day after birth, the boy was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect – a perimembranous ventricular septal defect. Initially there was hope that it would close on its own, but unfortunately it did not. Mykhasy was granted a disability. The parents were left waiting for an open‑heart surgery. However, the family now has hope for closing the defect by an endovascular method using an implant. Unfortunately, the family cannot raise such a large sum on their own to purchase an occluder. Only the mother works in the household, earning a minimum salary. The father spends all his time caring for Mykhasy, because the boy falls ill very often. The father receives state assistance of 800 UAH per month. Mykhasy also has an older brother. For a family of four, it is extremely difficult to live on such an amount.
