Kozynets Mariia

The surgery itself is free, but the occluder (implant) costs 41 000 UAH. For the Kozinets family this amount proved unaffordable. The girl's parents are ordinary people: mother – a second‑group disabled person, father – a loader. The family lives in Irpin, renting a room in a dormitory. Mariika is the second child in the family, and she has a ten‑year‑old brother. To raise the needed sum, the Kozinets family would need years, and time is not on the child's health side.

The family turned to the Future Hearts Charity Foundation for help raising funds for an implant for their beloved daughter. The foundation began looking for resources. At one of the meetings of the CSR Development Center, they appealed to Natali Oblakevych, a public‑relations specialist at the company TAKEDA. They shared the story of Mariia Kozynets’s family and the urgent need for the child’s treatment. Ahead of the major holiday—Easter Sunday—Natali announced that TAKEDA employees had decided to help little Mariika and would raise the necessary amount for an intracardiac implant. Two weeks after the campaign started, the required sum was collected. When we told Lyudmyla Kozynets, Mariika’s mother, that their child would be saved thanks to the TAKEDA staff, she could not hold back tears of joy.

On 14.05.14, the operation on Mariia Kozynets was successfully performed, and on 16.05.14 Mariika was discharged as a completely healthy child. The Kozynets family, Future Hearts charity foundation, and the endovascular surgeons of the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery express huge gratitude to all the staff of the “TAKEDA” campaign for their caring and compassionate hearts. For not being able to stay on the sidelines and helping the little girl obtain a healthy heart. Thank you so much, now we are sure that thanks to you, there is one more healthy heart for a little Ukrainian girl. Our united hearts create miracles!
