Chura Kalyna's heart has been saved ❤️

Kalyna is 11 years old and lives with her parents, little brother and grandfather in Lviv. A typical Ukrainian family, where the parents sell at the market, go about their own business and do everything they can to survive in difficult times. Kalyna has had no health problems since birth and was active in sports. Her favorite pursuit, which she dreamed of turning into her future, is swimming. She is a regional competition medalist. But lately the girl has become very fatigued, and training has become hard. Then health issues started to appear, with colds and illnesses becoming much more frequent. At a routine check‑up the doctor heard murmurs in her heart. Then everything was like a fog. Tests, electrocardiograms, ultrasound and the verdict: a heart defect. A defect of the atrial septum. An urgent operation to correct it is needed.

Kalyna stopped swimming. She was waiting for her operation and for the disease to recede so she could once again live a full life. But the funds for her health were lacking. 79 929 UAH, which her parents simply did not have.

Fortunately, the philanthropists of the Ukrainian Charity Exchange platform came to the rescue! Thanks to caring people, all the funds were raised and Kalyni underwent a successful heart operation! After rehabilitation, she will be able to swim again.

A big thank you to the 123 donors on the ubb.org.ua platform, including the students of Generation22, whose teenagers raised 22 000 UAH at a charity fair to save Kalyna. We also want to say warm words to donor Kateryna Venzhyk, who collected funds for an implant for Kalyna as part of her birthday.
