Zhenia Semirichna already has a disability. At 6 months old the child was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. At 8 months Zhenia underwent a complex open surgery that lasted 4 hours, with a chest incision, a lifelong scar, and a difficult postoperative rehabilitation. Unfortunately, recently Zhenia’s condition has worsened, and doctors are insisting on a repeat urgent surgery within the next two months to install an internal cardiac implant (occluder).

The family lives in a small village in the Zakarpattia region. In the household there is one father, an entrepreneur with a modest monthly income. The mother stays at home caring for the children, and Zhenia has an older brother. Because Zhenichka gets sick very often, the mother has to look after her.

Zhenia is a very lively and sociable girl. She draws beautifully and dreams of taking up dancing like her peer friends. Her family gives all their love and care so that the girl does not feel ill and can live a full life in the future. During a routine examination in July 2015, doctors of the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery reported that because her heart is growing in size and the defect has also enlarged due to the pathology, an urgent endovascular operation is needed, which involves the implantation of an intracardiac device (occluder). Its cost is 66 735 UAH.

With their own efforts the family has raised 20 000 UAH and still lacks 46 735 UAH. But they have nowhere else to get funds. In 2008 the family took a loan to purchase a car, which they are still repaying. Therefore they cannot take a loan for their daughter’s treatment. All these years the family lived in fear for Zheni’s life. Now the family is asking for help to raise funds for an occluder to cure the beloved little daughter’s heart!
