Yaremchuk Khrystyna

A 19‑year‑old, Khrystyna Yaremchuk, urgently needs surgery to implant an intracardiac occluder, as she has a congenital heart defect—a secondary interatrial septal defect. Since birth, the girl has been diagnosed with multiple developmental anomalies, lung hypoplasia, vascular pathology of the left lung, scoliosis, and a chest wall deformity. In 2007 she underwent a left pneumonectomy (removal of the left lung), but what worries Khrystyna most is her ailing heart.

After consulting at all cardio centers in Kyiv, doctors insist on an urgent operation to close the heart defect—an atrial septal defect. The surgery itself is free, but the intracardiac implant costs 99 242,50 UAH—a sum that is simply unattainable for Khrystyna and her family.

Christina has a second‑group disability, she already has a child she delivered by Caesarean section, and she is a single mother living with her parents in a village. Her mother does not work, and her father is the sole breadwinner in the family, earning a minimum salary. Therefore, she is reaching out for help from all caring people to assist her in treating her heart.
