My little son is three years old. On the fifth day after his birth, he was diagnosed with a VSD – a perimembranous ventricular septal defect. It was a very scary day for us; we hoped everything would be fine and that the defect would close on its own, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen.

Our son needs an urgent operation to install an intracardiac implant. Such operations are performed free of charge at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. However, the implant itself is very expensive for us. The amount of 104 967 UAH is simply unaffordable. We live in a village. I work seasonal jobs, and my salary isn’t very high because we don’t work every day; sometimes there’s a month of work, and sometimes I work only two days a month. My husband works wherever he can, since there is no work in the village, and in the city it’s difficult for him because he has a speech defect (he practically does not speak), making it very hard to find regular employment.

We live with my parents: my mother works at a school as a technical staff member, and my father does not work because his legs are ill and he cannot work. Our family’s monthly income is between 1,000 and 2,000 UAH. Raising enough money for my son’s intracardiac implant, and doing it quickly, is simply unrealistic. My son is a very active and smart boy. Please help him become healthy and happy. Our family cannot do this on our own. We simply cannot raise such a large sum of money.
