Bohdan Dzyuba

Urgent help is needed for a boy named Bohdan from the village of Snizhkyvky in the Kharkiv region. He has a congenital heart defect and requires surgery to correct it. The operation can be performed free of charge at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, but to make it happen, an expensive cardiac implant—a stent—must be purchased. The single mother raising her son alone has no funds to buy it or to save her child's life. She is reaching out to all caring people for help to save Bohdan’s heart!

The tragedy came to the family when Bohdan turned 4. It was then that cardiologists diagnosed the boy with a congenital heart defect – a combined aortic valve defect with predominant insufficiency. Based on this diagnosis the child was immediately granted a disability. Surgeries began, constant examinations, a fight for life. Since 2011 Bohdan has undergone four heart operations (Rossa operation, balloon dilation of conduit stenosis, resterotomy – reconstruction of the main pulmonary artery conduit with a Contegra 200S, balloon dilation of conduit stenosis of the pulmonary artery and both branches of the pulmonary artery, NK II‑a st). Five years have passed since the last operation. Everything was fine until Bohdan started growing rapidly and began to experience health problems. At the latest examination at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery doctors identified a problem and concluded there was pulmonary artery stenosis. Another operation is needed – implantation of a special stent to correct the defect.

Bohdan's mom cannot buy a stent on her own. Living without a husband and caring for a son and a sick retired mother, it is impossible to raise almost 120 000 UAH. All the money goes to everyday living and covering utility costs.
