I, a mother of the wonderful, restless little girl who is curious about everything around her—Sofiika! At 3 months, during a routine check‑up, a heart murmur was detected and we were referred to a cardiologist. We completed all the necessary tests, imaging, and ultrasound, after which we were told that she has a congenital heart defect…

The wonderful doctor examined us and our test results and diagnosed a congenital heart defect—an atrial septal defect, but because we were still very young, there was hope that everything would improve. Year after year we went for consultations, but the situation did not change, and after another check‑up in 2017 we were told that it needed to be closed with an occluder. The doctor explained that the surgery itself is free, except for the cost of the occluder, but the price shocked me (100 000 UAH). We cannot afford such an amount. We are a large family; only the father works (a trolleybus driver, his average salary is 5 500 UAH), and I am currently on maternity leave. We earnestly ask all caring people for help! We really want to save our daughter Sofia.
