Babina Angelina

Angelina, 3 years old, urgently needs surgery to place an internal cardiac implant (spiral) because she has a congenital heart defect – patent ductus arteriosus. Look into those big, sad eyes! Those eyes already understand how much they have endured: premature birth at 1,700 g with bronchopulmonary dysplasia and a developmental airway defect, 25 days on a mechanical ventilator, and then treatment at the Chernihiv Regional Hospital.

Angelina and her mother didn’t get home until four months after she was born. And they constantly continued to fight for Angelina’s life. When Angelina turned one year old, doctors gave a new diagnosis – consequences of early organic CNS damage, cerebral palsy syndrome – ataxic syndrome, lower paresis. A disability certificate was issued. But the Babynykh family did not give up; they do everything possible to get the child on her feet. And their efforts were not in vain – at three years old Angelinka took her first steps. In April 2015 the girl underwent surgery on her leg, but doctors still insist on several more operations; unfortunately, without a healthy heart this is not possible.

Seeking help was forced upon the family by a difficult financial situation. Until now, with the support of retired parents, relatives and friends, they managed on their own. Ongoing treatment and rehabilitation, specialized sanatoriums – all of this requires substantial financial outlay. The heart operation will be performed free of charge at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery named after M. M. Amosov, but the spiral occluder for closing the arterial duct costs 30 281 UAH. This is a very large sum for the Babynykh family.

Since the mother cannot work because she cares for a disabled child, and the father was laid off and is now registered at the Employment Center, the Babynykh family is appealing to all caring people to help raise funds for an internal heart implant for their only beloved daughter, to heal her heart and continue treatment of her legs.
