At birth, Dasha's diagnosis was not made in time, and at 3.5 months old she was brought in a very critical condition to the Kyiv Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. For 1.5 months in the intensive care unit, doctors fought for her life. A temporary stent was placed, which saved her. However, the child is growing, and her health is deteriorating each day, because Dasha urgently needs a permanent stent (cardiac implant). The child has already survived two cardiac arrests. We cannot wait any longer! Let’s give Dasha the chance to live a full life!

Dasha is a very frail little girl, often getting colds, bronchitis and pneumonia. After numerous anesthesias and two cardiac arrests, at the age of three she was given another diagnosis – childhood autism. She has completely stopped speaking and playing with other children. The Avshenyuk family deeply wishes that their beloved daughter can once again speak and delight her parents with her smile. To achieve this, Dasha needs an operation to implant a device that costs 56 993,55 UAH and to correct the heart defect so that other doctors can begin treating the autism. Unfortunately, they cannot manage this on their own without your help. If a cardiac implant is placed in Dasha, it will close the defect and allow the pressure in the right ventricle to be reduced. Currently, the girl is prohibited from any physical exertion and from moving actively.

Darinka's father works as a driver and earns a very low salary, while her mother stays at home caring for the child because Dasha has a disability. The Avshenyuk family is reaching out for help to all caring people to help them save the life of their beloved and only daughter. Give Darinka a chance for a full life!

Since the child needed an urgent operation, we decided not to delay and immediately asked for help from UBB in raising funds for an intracardiac implant to help Dasha Avshenyuk together. The project started on 02.06.14. The fundraising was carried out using an online service. 256 donors participated in the project, and on 07.07.14 the required amount was collected, thanks to all the caring and kind people.

22.07.14, at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, endovascular surgeons successfully performed an operation to implant an intracardiac device for Dasha Avshenyuk. Thanks to the intervention, the aortic narrowing was widened and the pressure in the left ventricle returned to normal. Now Dasha’s heart is healthy and she can live a full life! We wish the Avshenyuk family that they easily cope with Dasha’s second diagnosis—autism—and that Dasha begins to rejoice in life!
