Anna Kilyarova's heart has been saved

Anichka was born with a congenital heart defect and has been under doctors’ observation since birth. At age 5 the girl underwent her first heart surgery with a chest incision. Doctors at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery performed a repair of the interventricular septal defect. The operation was complex, life‑threatening for the child. But the doctors did everything they could. All these years the child’s condition has been stable, but not enough to be considered healthy. Frequent fatigue, dizziness, low blood pressure, medication use and constant medical monitoring. During a routine examination at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, doctors upset the mother by saying that her child’s heart needs another operation. The heart is no longer coping and the defect must be corrected again. This time it could be done without a chest incision and without harming the child.

Doctors at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery announced that they would perform Ganna’s operation free of charge, but for it the family needs to purchase a heart implant. Its cost is about 90 000 UAH. For an ordinary Ukrainian family, where the mother is a single parent and the father can help only as far as possible, this seemed unreal. They had to seek help from caring people who are not indifferent to a stranger’s sorrow.

On the dobro.ua platform, in just a few days, 298 donors raised the needed amount to purchase a heart implant. We are endlessly grateful for this!!

Ani successfully underwent the operation and she feels very well! And we are happy that another child has received a chance for a full life and a healthy future!
