Saved lives of the little patients at the Amosov Institute ❤️

Congenital heart defects are not isolated stories. They can remain silent for years and then suddenly change a child's life and the whole family's. In the context of war, unstable incomes, and constant anxiety, the diagnosis sounds like a sentence for many families—not because of a lack of doctors, but because of the prohibitive cost of implants, without which surgery is impossible.

It is precisely at moments like these that support makes all the difference.

This winter, thanks to a charitable initiative organized by Elvira Hasanova and Yevhenia Tkachenko, children from various regions of Ukraine received help — with very different life stories, but equally fragile hearts.

Shliakhova Olesia, 16, Dnipropetrovsk region. Active, resilient, a second‑year college student who danced and made plans for the future. When her health suddenly deteriorated, doctors discovered a congenital heart defect – an open arterial duct. Delaying treatment was dangerous. Her family, where the mother has a disability and a minimal income, could not afford to purchase the implant on their own.

Svidi Viktoria, 15, Zakarpattia region. The family learned about her congenital heart defect a few years ago. Viktoria has already undergone a complex surgery, but over time serious complications developed – an aortic aneurysm. The family is raising another child with a disability, and the father's unstable income did not allow them to gather funds for the next treatment.

❤️ Oleksandra Havryliuk, 13, Cherkasy. A student of a physics‑mathematics lyceum, a prize‑winner of Olympiads and a dancer. Her congenital heart defect was discovered by chance – after an examination for fatigue and headache. On 27 January 2026, Sashuni underwent a defect‑closure operation. Today she returns to school and dancing – to a life that should not have stopped.

❤️Shimon Taras, 11 years old, Zakarpattia region. A congenital heart defect was detected already in infancy. Over the years the risks only increased, and doctors insisted on surgical intervention. The family lives on a pension and their own farm and could not afford to pay for the occluder on their own.

❤️Gorpynyuk Zahar, 10 years old, Ternopil region. Just half a year ago Zahar lived a normal childhood life. Then shortness of breath, rapid fatigue, and blood pressure problems appeared. Examination confirmed an open arterial duct that requires immediate treatment. The boy’s father has a disability and cannot work, and the family could not manage on its own.

Dear Vladyslava, 10 years old, Vinnytsia region. After her biological parents lost parental rights, her aunt Iryna became her guardian. It was Iryna who initiated the examination, during which a serious heart defect was discovered. For a woman raising two children on her own, the cost of the implant was unaffordable.

❤️Kagarlytskyi Denis, 15 years old, Kyiv. Denis is an active, sincere and cheerful 15‑year‑old boy. He loves sports. He practiced judo, always strived to be strong and resilient. Denis is preparing to enter a higher education institution, attends preparatory courses and dreams of living a full life. His diagnosis was a real test for the family. Despite the fact that

The parents work several jobs at once, and they didn’t have the means to raise funds for treatment on their own.

All these children received help thanks to the charitable campaign “Children’s Hearts Must Beat!”, organized for the second year in a row by Elvira Hasanova and Yevhenia Tkachenko.
