Courage Bazaar Charity

June 18‑19 at the Art Factory Platform will host the first fully Ukrainian charity flea market – Courage Bazaar Charity. During the March Charity Courage Bazaar we managed to raise more than 620 000 UAH for the treatment of children with cancer, and over the entire lifespan of the project we have collected more than 1 700 000 UAH to help children! This time we will raise money and save kids who urgently need heart surgery.

4 500 children are born each year in Ukraine with this diagnosis, which is 6‑8 cases per 1 000 newborns. The state annually helped cover most of the costs of acquiring occluders for 200 families who cannot afford this expensive, yet essential operation for their child's life. Due to the difficult situation in the country, this state assistance has now been suspended.

Today, due to a shortage of funds for cardiac implants (occluders), infants are being treated with open‑chest cardiac surgery. Afterward, the children undergo prolonged rehabilitation, and because the heart must be stopped during the operation, they may develop serious complications.

The goal of our project is to raise funds to purchase occluders that are implanted into children’s hearts. This treatment is performed without an incision, without stopping the heart, and without deep anesthesia. Moreover, patients do not need rehabilitation, and after just 1‑2 days they are discharged completely healthy. Such bloodless surgeries are performed at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery and the Scientific and Practical Center of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Each of the nine children shares one terrible disease—a heart defect—and one great wish: to become healthy.

Mashenka Pozdniakova, 4 years

Masha and her family live 20 km from the combat zone. Masha is very active, cheerful, full of life, attends kindergarten, and loves dancing and crafting. In the family, Mashulya is the only and most precious child, and of course the parents want to do everything possible and necessary so that the child grows healthy, develops, and enjoys life! But the operation to install an occluder is beyond the means of the loving parents.

Lera Zadvernjuk, 10 years old

Lera was born with a cleft lip, but the eyes of this little girl radiate light, kindness, and incredible beauty! In Lera’s family there are three other children. Her dream is to first have heart surgery and then become a chef‑pastry chef, baking all kinds of cakes.
