MAKOS company saves children's lives — Future Hearts Charity Foundation

MAKOSH Company — an expert in effective plant nutrition. It is a young, purpose‑driven team that cares about the harvest of hundreds of farmers.

Since July 2021, the company has been saving the lives of children with heart defects by transferring funds to purchase cardiac implants for endovascular procedures at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery.

A congenital heart defect in our country sounds like a death sentence. Especially when nearly 100 000 UAH stands between a life‑saving heart implant—an occluder—and a child’s survival. For an ordinary Ukrainian family, those are insurmountable sums, sick children, and parents shattered by grief. Heart disease claims three newborns every day in Ukraine. Each year, about 5 500 children are born with congenital heart defects, and among them 600 could be saved even without a chest incision—simply by receiving a heart implant. At the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, professional cardiac surgeons—behind whom thousands of hearts have been rescued—have been performing free defect‑correction surgeries since 2013.

A celebration that saved 10 lives at once ❤️

This is exactly how we can describe the charitable initiative from our long‑time partner, a rescuer of children with congenital heart defects – the company Makosh, which on its anniversary, instead of a thousand words, gifts and surprises, transferred all the funds to the purchase of cardiac implants.

MAKOSH is one of the leaders in the market of mineral fertilizers and foliar fertilizers for Ukraine’s agricultural producers. It is a young, purpose‑driven team that cares about the harvests of hundreds of farmers. We can only imagine the challenges and difficulties the business faced after the start of the full‑scale invasion—blocking the agricultural sector’s work by the occupiers and massive economic losses for the agribusiness industry. But this is Ukrainian business, and even during the tragedy it continues to operate, providing jobs, paying taxes, and not forgetting good deeds and the rescue of children with congenital heart defects.

For an ordinary Ukrainian family, these are unattainable sums, sick children, and parents shattered by grief. At the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, professional cardiac surgeons—behind whom stand thousands of saved hearts—have been performing free heart defect correction surgeries since 2013. But the procedures require heart implants. Thanks to reliable, kind, and sincere partners like the Makoš company, we are able to help children live full, healthy lives.

Artem Borodyn's heart has been saved ❤️

Artemko received a severe diagnosis at birth—a common arterial trunk and an interventricular septal defect. By just two months old, the child had already undergone an eight‑hour operation at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. The surgery was successful, and after two weeks Artemko was discharged home with ongoing monitoring and an annual consultation. However, to support and maintain normal heart function, the child takes medication daily to maximize the lifespan of the special implant placed in the heart.

Since then, Artemchyk has grown into a truly handsome boy who enjoys a happy childhood, attends school, has successfully completed the 5th grade, has many friends, a long‑awaited little sister, life goals and dreams. He dreams of becoming a cyber police officer and making our world kinder and safer.

But in May 2023 an urgent need arose to replace the heart implant—the conduit. The family devoted all their energy to raising funds for the implant.

The family raised part of the funds from relatives and acquaintances.

And part of the funds was donated by the company Makosh – our regular donors, who have already helped 17 children with heart defects ❤️

In November Artemka was admitted for surgery and we are very happy that everything went successfully! On 1 December he was discharged home! We very much hope that visits to cardiologists will be exclusively scheduled and that a happy childhood lies ahead!
