Save a heart

Because of heart disease in Ukraine, three newborns die every day. Each year, about 5,500 children are born with congenital heart defects, and among them 600 can be saved without even opening the chest! All it takes is simply implanting a cardiac device.

Congenital heart defects in our country sound like a death sentence. Especially when rescue is separated by an amount of almost 100 000 UAH for a cardiac implant – an occluder. For an ordinary Ukrainian family, these are unattainable sums, sick children, parents broken by grief.

At the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, professional cardiac surgeons—behind whom stand thousands of rescued hearts—have been performing free heart defect correction surgeries since 2013. However, without implants they are powerless, and this year the state simply removed the program that rescued children with congenital heart defects from the funding budget. Cardiac implants have not been purchased at all. All children who need surgery in 2021 will be unable to receive help and a chance for a healthy life.

Every year we have supported the state and, together with donors, filled the needs that budget funds could not cover. Over the years we have acquired more than 500 heart implants. These projects represent over half a thousand lives saved.

This year we must save everyone. Six hundred children are on the brink. Their parents don’t know where to find funds for heart implants. These are ordinary families who have found themselves on the edge of poverty.

That’s why our charitable foundation, in partnership with the platform dobro.ua, the agency Superheroes.ua, and all caring people, is launching the national project “Save the Little Heart”.

Our goal is ambitious: to unite everyone around a problem the state cannot solve and raise over 40 million UAH to save 600 children with congenital heart defects who need endovascular implants.

Just 1 hryvnia that you can donate to this project will help us save all children living with congenital heart defects and needing heart implants.

Why do we ask for 1 UAH per day? Because it’s the amount you might not even notice in your pocket, yet it can change everything. In a month that becomes 30 UAH, and in a year 365 UAH. Just 1 UAH for charity and the problem will be solved, and the children saved.
