Being There

On 01.04.2015, the charitable campaign “Being Close” concluded, which was made possible by SC Johnson, the Watsons perfume store chain, and the METRO retail centre network, with the support of the Future Hearts Charity Foundation.

The aim of the program was to raise funds for the purchase of implants (occluders) for pediatric heart surgeries. For each unit of Mr. Muscle and “Toilet Duck” sold in the Watsons and METRO chains, SC Johnson contributed one hryvnia toward the purchase of occluders for the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Based on the results of the SC Johnson campaign, we were able to raise 246,000 UAH and purchase three occluders, which means saving three little hearts. Thanks to the campaign we were able to help Olena Nikytchenko (15 years, Sumy), Bohdan Tytarenko (8.5 years, Bila Tserkva), and Valeriia Zhuravko (17 years, Zaporizhzhia region, Huliaipole). The children’s parents, and the children themselves, could not believe that in such a difficult time they could have the costly but life‑essential implants paid for. Now these children can live healthy, full lives! Representatives of SC Johnson, the Watsons perfume‑store chain, and the METRO shopping‑center network came to the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. They delivered the implants and also spent time with the children and their parents.
