Charity Marathon That Saves a Child's Heart

Little Vira Smolenko's heart has been saved!

The path of little Vira has been marked by severe trials. Virochka was born on time, but with developmental defects. The child has anomalies of the hands and feet (polydactyly, a sixth finger on the left foot and a dislocated big toe on the right hand), and both feet are turned inward. From birth the parents have been caring for the girl, trying to do everything to correct her defects. But the heart defect is the most frightening obstacle that prevented Virochka from living and developing. The interatrial septal defect had to be corrected with a cardiac implant (occluder), which the large family could not afford.

Fortunately, the fairy‑girls came to the rescue, running their kilometers of kindness as part of the Nova Poshta Kyiv Half Marathon 2019 and helped raise almost half of the amount needed to purchase a heart implant!
